Portland, Ore. based Mercy Corps is spearheading a major relief effort to those impacted by the earthquake in Haiti. Almost three weeks after the quake hit, the pain can still be felt.

Additional relief workers are converging on Haiti from Africa, Asia and North America. Mercy Corps is focusing first on the immediate needs - food, water, temporary shelter, supplies, and much more - and expanding their work to three areas that include health, social support and job creation.

I just returned from my elegant floating hotel, complete with all the comforts of home! The best part is that I only had to unpack once, as my room floated down the river with me!
